Weird Equine Bellies: Fall 2015 Edition

Welcome to Weird Equine Bellies, Fall 2015 Edition.

For those of you who followed the saga of the weird donkey bellies for the last several months (which is still at a "no change" status, fyi), you can understand my alarm and consternation at Mimi the Pony's current body shape.

Yes, I know ponies get fat easily.

Yes, I know that Mimi is fat and was fat when she got here.

BUT, she is getting fatter with a rapidity that doesn't quite match her current diet or activity level.

Mimi has had access to as little feed as possible and at least while she was housed with the donkeys (which was until last week), a very heightened activity level. She HATED being with the donkeys and continually ran the fence or chased them...she is currently probably more fit than any other animal on the property.

But she is still getting BIGGER.

And the only thing we know for sure about her life previous to the point that she ran away from her old owners and showed up in my Aunt Mary Hertz's yard is that for many months she was on the same poorly fenced property with a donkey jack.
