Storm Watching

We just spent an afternoon with one severe thunderstorm after another boiling past us. Evie and I headed to the basement for a few of them but luckily the only damage here is a few tree limbs and one of my wicker chairs somehow got blown clear to the pasture. We picked a near-drought busting rain, something we desperately needed!

But the weird thing of the day was watching Lilly. She is at her due date and I watched her like a hawk all day, knowing that low pressure systems can induce labor. She hunkered down in her run-in shed for most of it but a few hours ago, an especially bad storm turned into a tornado-producer just 5 miles east of us. Lilly left her shed and went to her far east pasture line and was on high alert for about the exact same amount of time the Tornado Warning lasted. How weird is that?

That is one wise old mare.
