The Last Pup

So this happened this afternoon...
After the loss Kirby, which happened so soon after the loss of Ginger, we’ve had a little girl carrying around a pretty big burden of sadness. At the same time, we are somewhat crazy dog people and our home has felt utterly empty without a little snuffler pup running about. And so we’ve been casually watching the humane societies and rescues for someone who might work for our home.
I’d also posted on a local pet page that were looking for a pug that needed home, in case someone had an older breeding dog needing a soft landing place like our old dog George needed when we gave him a home.
But as fate would have it, the only real response I got was for this little dude—the product of an “oops!” litter between a Boston Terrier and a Dachshund and rejected by everyone who took his 7 brothers and sisters home because of his inherited “cherry eye”. The last pup left with nowhere to go...unwanted because his weird looking eye scared folks away.
He was offered to us as free to a good home so how could we not say yes? Especially after watching the Mr. Rogers documentary last night and being reminded of never loving anyone for what’s on the outside, just what’s on the inside.
We’ll have amazing our vet look at him this week and get a treatment plan in place for his (very treatable) condition. In the meantime, say hello to “Happy”!
