Yay for Late Gardens
Last year I didn't get a garden because this spot was a swamp until mid-June and I said to heck with it.
This year I almost didn't get a garden in because we had to get a new fence up to keep the yard-mowing sheep out--a task that kept getting shoved to the bottom of the giant spring to do list.
Finally, after having to till twice and at the start of what has turned into a summer-long drought, I started planting in mid-June. I stocked it with shaggy, clearance plants and some odds and ends of seeds. I mulched with straw, watered and hoped for the best.
Fast forward a month and by some miracle we have our first harvest and I am making pico de gallo tonight! Never underestimate the tenacity of some discount, nearly dead vegetables!
